The Red Ramblers defeated North Vermillion 9-8 on Saturday thanks to a walk-off double. Attica was down 8-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Junior Ben Hiller doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as Attica collected 11 hits and North Vermillion five in the high-scoring affair.
The Red Ramblers took an early lead in the first inning when they scored two runs off a Jorden Douglass singled.
North Vermillion knotted the game up at seven in the top of the sixth inning, when Tallman drew a walk, scoring one run.
After North Vermillion scored three runs in the top of the fourth, Attica answered with three of their own. North Vermillion scored when Flynn grounded out, scoring one run and Certain singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Attica Red Ramblers then answered when Brian Dobbels doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, Cade Walker doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and an error scored one more run for the Ramblers.
DJ Burris led things off on the hill for Attica going five and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on four hits and striking out five.
Tallman started the game for North Vermillion allowing nine hits and eight runs over six innings, striking out eight.
Attica racked up 11 hits including multiple hits from Mason Hartman, Burris, and Walker.
The Ramblers improved their record to 3-6 on the year and 1- 4 in the WRC after the first game of the Double Header.
